I'll confess up front, I don't do live betting or inline betting as some call it. I prefer to do my homework and fire away and let the chips fall where they lay.
I was at a March Madness party with some other pals and it was quite the set up the guy put together. Had 4 large screens with each individual game going and had set up a row of lap tops for those wanted to place bets. It was funny because there were the other guys using them like tote machines at the track.
A few were doing live betting on the games from a few different sportsbooks.
I noticed that scores and time left in a half or game were actually ahead of the broadcast. I am curious about this, how are these books getting a better feed offshore somewhere compared to the supposed live broadcast? He had the games showing from Directv. We did a test on several of the games, he would put up the 4 screen channel and then go to the channel that was broadcasting the game. We noticed the four screen feed was ahead of the channel broadcasting it. We then did another test of the four screen and whatever the local channel was broadcasting it and the four screen was even more ahead of the local feed compared to the TNT/TBS/TRU feeds.
I am guessing we are getting a massive delay in our feeds but how in the heck are third world countries getting the feed faster than us?
Other thing I noticed and I think it is way wrong of the books. If they post a line and you bet it and they change the line to your favor, they say line changed, your bet no good. But if you bet a line and they change it to their favor they don't say no bet, they give you the worse line.
For example:
They are offering:
Villanova -6 -110 and ML -240
Kentucky +6 -110 and ML +170
You go to bet Villanova -6 and while your bet is processing they change the line to Villanova -7 they cancel your bet.
But let's say they change the line to Villanova -5, instead of cancelling your bet, they give you Villanova -6
That's pretty bad if you ask me. It would seem they look to take advantage any which way possible. I pointed this out to the guys and they agreed it was bad but it was accept it or don't bet live.
Personally that sounds degenerate to me and I won't bet to bet like these chaps. Needless to say they lost their asses chasing.
Thoughts on the feed speed and the live betting set up as described. I don't want to name the books but you can see them all up at the top of your screen from the left to second row.
